We love our grandparents! It is October and with October comes Grandparents Day! This year our grandparents visited us during the afternoon when sixth graders study the areas of math and science. Students and their grandparents participated in a variety of STEM themed activities. We completed engineering challenges by designing and building tinfoil towers. It was fun using our analytical skills by determining our dominant and recessive traits. In addition, we were able to analyze our handwriting and learn what it can reveal about us. We explored our reaction time by catching a ruler or coin, and we learned how our reflexes slow once our muscles are tired. Students and Grandparents enjoyed working on their problem solving skills by saving castaways stranded on a volcanic island, and by changing the direction a triangle points by moving only three coins. We loved learning with our grandparents!
